The Chemical Dependency Treatment Team at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital believes that addiction to drugs and alcohol is a medical disorder that is progressive in nature. If left untreated, addiction will usually result in psychological, physical, social and spiritual deterioration of the individual, damage to the individual's family, and can ultimately lead to premature death.
The Chemical Dependency Program at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital is an abstinence based treatment program which means that abstinence from alcohol and all mood altering addictive substances is required. This includes abstinence from any medications which may have been prescribed for an individual, but are addictive in nature.
