Advanced Skills Training Programs at the Center for Professional Education
Alexian Brothers Center for Professional Education is offering the following advanced skills training programs for 2011-2012:
CBT for Different Disorders, Populations, Modalities & Settings | 15-month
CBT & Exposure Response Prevention Treatment for Anxiety Disorders | 6-month
These certificate-based programs are intended for individuals who are currently working with a master's degree or higher in the mental health field. Participants will receive didactic training, handouts, readings, supervision, and consultation. Beginning late 2011 and early 2012, programs will run one Saturday per month from 8:30am to 4:30pm on a 6-month or 15-month schedule.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Treatment for Different Disorders, Populations, Modalities & Settings
The Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Treatment for Different Disorders, Populations, Modalities & Settings training program will be led by Arthur Freeman, Ed.D., Sc.D., ABPP, Program Director & Director, Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology, Midwestern University. This 15-month program will use a number of teaching methods including formal didactic presentations, group discussion, case presentations, role-playing, and viewing videos of CBT sessions. The goal is to provide clinicians with theoretical, philosophical, empirical, and technical applications of CBT across the lifespan.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy & Exposure Response Prevention Treatment for Anxiety Disorders
The Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy & Exposure Response Prevention Treatment for Anxiety Disorders training program will be led by Patrick B. McGrath, Ph.D., Director of The Center for Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital. This 6-month course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of all of the Anxiety Disorders, cognitive behavioral models of treatment, and exposure and response prevention models of treatment for anxiety. The goal is to provide clinicians with practical knowledge that will assist them in defining, assessing, and treating all of the Anxiety Disorders across the lifespan.
