Outpatient Therapies at Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health
Individual and family therapies are available to help you work through your emotional challenges or substance abuse problems on an individualized basis. Outpatient therapy at Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health also offers a variety of structured therapeutic groups that address mental illness, substance abuse, socialization, and many other issues important to your recovery. These groups include:
Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
This group has been designed primarily for adults struggling with borderline personality disorder, depression, suicidal thoughts, and impulsive behaviors. Participation in this group will teach new coping strategies and reinforce positive coping skills while helping group members to identify unhealthy behaviors.
Overcoming Anxiety
The ten week group uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients learn to identify and change the thinking patterns that create and reinforce their fears and to change the way they react to anxiety-provoking situations. The evening group is held on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30pm. The afternoon group meets on Thursdays from 10:00am-12:00pm
Anger Management
Learn effective coping behaviors to stop escalation and work through anger in healthy ways. Understand anger dynamics, apply new skills, lower your anger by managing stress, change negative self-talk and convert anger into forgiveness.
**A ten hour certificate will be given at the completion of this program for court or employer requirements.
