Stroke Evaluation Begins in the Ambulance
- The goal of the Comprehensive Stroke Program is to start stroke treatment ASAP.
- The Stroke Alert Team mobilizes immediately upon receiving notification from paramedics that a stroke patient is on route to the hospital.
Immediate Stroke Diagnosis and Treatment Is Crucial
The Stroke Alert Team immediately begins a thorough stroke evaluation of the patient to determine a timely and accurate diagnosis and to recommend the best treatment options.
The team consists of:
- Specially trained emergency medicine physicians
- Board-certified vascular neurologists
- Advanced practice nurses
- Registered nurses trained in stroke care
- Laboratory personnel
- Diagnostic imaging personnel
- Mission and spiritual care personnel (chaplains)
